Zdzislaw Beksinski

Zdzislaw Beksinski (1929-2005) was a self trained Polish painter. His works are surreal, apocalyptic, yet are serene. I am really inspired by his combination of organic shapes and textures and architecture. A self proclaimed "Gothic" painter, his work compares to Friedrich in the awesomeness and loneliness of nature. His color palette is autumnal, jewel like, and gorgeous.

Critical Phrase Generator

"Pixmaven is a burgeoning web-based gallery, it's mission to showcase a variety of talents in a wide array of media, from new and unrepresented to established artists. It's space is dedicated to featuring all manner of visual and aural works by artists using traditional and digital media, as well as hosting guest curators and generating juried exhibitions."

Not to be missed is the "Critical Phrase Generator" which I regret not having access too during my brief stint in graduate school.

One gem : "I agree/disagree with some of the things that have just been said, but the mechanical mark-making of the purity of line contextualize the remarkable handling of light." 100% art school.
