The famous ending (no spoilers) of Werner Herzogs 1977 feature. I haven't seen the whole movie- I haven't been able to find it online yet. This is such a curious video. I'm looking into this more - my research hasn't been able to find much yet. Will post update later...

Bentos
Bentos are so organized (not to mention tasty) - they remind me so much of drawers of butterflies and exotic beetles. Of course everything in a bento is so very close to home (whats closer to home than a lunch box?) - so bentos are an interesting juxtaposition of domestic and exotic.

Harnessing a spectrum of rich color and filter-through depth, systematic repetition of single forms lay the foundation for her creations as images and patterns are successfully married in luscious, three-dimensional depth.
"My idea was to morph and alter patterns from their original state into something new while using the original pattern as ground to work from" explains Fiebig. The artist also utilizes a vision she had three years ago "to create work that resembles an exquisitely beaded gown encapsulated under layers of ice".
To create this effect, deconstructed garments and altered textiles are submerged into a thick resin, which is carefully smoothed and dried. Paint is then added to the newly formed aquatic-like surface, forming images that compliment the existing patterns in shape and form. The result is a myriad of accomplished works unique to Fiebig.
Maija Fiebig's traditional arsenal of creative ingredients seems almost endless. Oils, canvas, wood, fabric, glue, sugar, resins, office labels, even cake crystals come together rendering radiant tones and textures. In current endeavors however, the Seattle resident finds herself moving in new directions relying on canvas and paint almost exclusively while achieving the same depth as her works of the last three years.
In the time spent since earning her B.A from Western Washington University in Bellingham, Fiebig has been busy. Her enviable resume reveals nine exhibitions at challenging galleries in Seattle, Bellingham and Portland. In addition, her work has been featured on the cover of the Portland Mercury (July 2003) and within the pages of the Seattle Weekly and Tablet Newspaper.

I found this artist in an ad in Art in America October 2008. His show Trompe L'Oeil Painted Constructions is on display at the Robert Kidd Gallery. According to thier website these are acrylic paint on birch wood constructions.

Amy Leonard
I found these images on a fellow blogger's page while looking for the work of Felieke Van Der Leest. Amy Leonards work is delicate and beautiful, reminds me a bit of the Brothers Cohen - specifically the video for the Street of Crocodiles (Bruno Shultz). I will look to see if this artist has her own site at a later date.
